P&C is CPR Certified

P&C staff members are now certified in CPR, AED, and first aid! Thank you to The Ohio State University Sports Medicine crew for coming out and educating us on this important matter.

At Pickle & Chill, our AED is located to the left of the entrance of the pickleball courts. Knowing where an AED is can save time and lives.

AEDs (automated external defibrillators) can recognize abnormal heart rhythms. When someone experiences abnormal heart rhythms, they may go into cardiac arrest, which an AED can potentially restore to a normal heartbeat.

During our training, we learned the following steps when approaching a cardiac arrest situation (these are basic steps, please seek a medical center to be appropriately certificated):

  1. Asset the scene and make sure it is safe to approach.

  2. Tap on the shoulders of the person and ask them if they're okay.

  3. If the person is unresponsive, shout for someone to call 9-1-1 and get the AED. If you're alone, you will need to make the call and get the AED.

  4. Lay the person on their back on a flat sturdy surface and start compressions: 30 compressions and 2 breaths then repeat.

  5. Use an AED as soon as possible!
